Privacy
Skogstrollet is designed to work without an account. This page explains the technical information that may be involved when the website and map are delivered, and what your rights are.
Responsibility and contact
Skogstrollet is run by Nyhem Studios, a sole proprietorship in Sweden. Nyhem Studios is the data controller for what is described on this page. Privacy questions are welcome by email.
Preferences on your device
The website has no user accounts and sets no cookies of its own. Language, search radius and your choice of light or dark mode are stored locally in your browser, as is whether distances are shown in kilometres or miles, so the service can remember your choices. You can remove them by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
If you choose “Show nature areas near me” on the home page or “Near me” on the map, your position is processed only in the browser to show protected areas around you. When you go from the home page to the map, the position stays in the browser tab for a moment and is removed as soon as the map has read it. The position is neither sent to nor stored by Skogstrollet.
When the website and map are displayed
The website’s hosting provider may process ordinary technical information, such as an IP address, request time and requested URL, to deliver and protect the service.
The basemap is loaded from an external map provider. The map provider therefore receives the technical information needed to show the map in your browser.
Skogstrollet uses no tracking for statistics or marketing.
Error reporting
If a technical error occurs, a limited error report may be sent to a technical error-reporting provider and stored in the EU. The report may include information about the error and the page where it occurred.
The error report does not include anything you search for or enter on the page. It is used only to find and fix technical problems and is deleted automatically after a limited time.
Why the information is processed
Technical information and error reports are processed to deliver the website, protect it and fix errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, working service. The preferences in your browser are stored because you chose them.
When you follow an external link
Official area pages and Google Maps open only when you choose a link. The receiving website’s privacy policy then applies.
Your rights
You have the right to know what personal data about you is processed, to have incorrect data corrected, to have data erased and to object to the processing. Write to contact@skogstrollet.com.
If you are unhappy with how the information is handled, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
